I'm Zhaocheng Che. I am learning about operating systems, database, networking, and hardware. I wrote Backend software, and paid attention to details that affects performance.

I am pursuing MCDS Systems track at CMU, currently taking the Database Systems and Computer Networks course. Before this, I spent three years at theScore working on backend services for sports and betting products. I mostly used Elixir and GraphQL. Some of my work involved batching service requests, making live updates more reliable, and helping prepare the backend for a new market launch.

Earlier, I interned on the routing team at Arista Networks, where I worked on making route insertion faster. I was also a part-time research assistant at the University of Waterloo and made a small change to Linux epoll.

One project I keep returning to is TrainsOS. It began as a course project: a small real-time kernel and train-control system written in C for a Raspberry Pi. After the course, I kept working on it and added support for Rust programs and an in-place (de)serializer to read/write variable length messages safely and without copy.
